For Lorbada, Sierra de Guadarrama is more than just a picturesque location—it’s a personal refuge. His journey into winter photography began after taking Alpinism courses in late 2018, which equipped him with the skills and confidence to explore the park during its most challenging season. Since then, Lorbada has embraced the harsh winter conditions, venturing into the park during blizzards and sub-zero temperatures to uncover its hidden perspectives.
Over the years, Lorbada has transformed his exploration of Sierra de Guadarrama into a pilgrimage, returning time and again to document its ever-changing winter landscape. Whether on backcountry skis, with crampons, or trudging through knee-deep snow, he seeks out the park’s lesser-known spots, capturing scenes that evoke both the starkness and tranquility of winter.
