India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem is still in a very early stage. However, the central government has announced the second phase of its ambitious FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles) policy, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in all market segments in the country.

According to NitiAayog, by 2030, India’s electric vehicle industry may accumulatively increase by about US$300 billion, while accelerating the popularity of electric vehicles, electric scooters, electric motorcycles and electric buses in the country.

The following is a list of the top 3 electric vehicle
manufacturers in the country:

1.       Hero Electric

Hero Electric is a
subsidiary of Hero Group and has launched more than ten electric vehicles in
China. The company has always been a leader in the field of electric vehicles,
with electric two-wheelers and electric tricycles. In the ER series, E2 series
and E5 series, Hero Electric has launched a series of Optima, Nyx, Flash and
Photon electric scooters.

 2. Tata Motors

Tata Motors recently launched an electric version of the Nexon with ZIPTRON technology. The company has launched the Nexon EV at a price of 15.17 lakhs, with a target cruising range of 300 kilometers, to solve the common range anxiety problem of electric vehicles in the country. It also provided an electric version of Tata Tigor to Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

 

 3. Ather Energy

Ather Energy launched the Ather 450 and Ather 340 electric scooters in India last year. These models are mainly designed for urban use. The company claims that the two electric scooters are designed to solve various problems in the field of two-wheel electric vehicles, such as trickle charging, low-power motors and shorter battery life. Ather Energy also offers the Ather One plan, which includes free use of public and household charging, fault assistance, and unlimited data services.
