Breaking Down Some of Meek Mill’s Biggest Hits [Video]

Podcaster and media personality Mandii B recently sat down with “The Need to Know” podcast, where she voiced her thoughts on Meek Mill and his career.  Interestingly enough, she wasn’t totally familiar with his catalog. 

Mandii explained that aside from Meek’s 2012 club banger, “Dreams & Nightmares” intro, from his debut studio album of the same name, his music was widely unknown. 

“I don’t know anyone who could name five Meek records,” Mandii stated before asking the cohosts to fire off a few of his tracks. 

This led to host Regina Cho naming several notable Meek cuts, including “Oodles & Noodles” and “24/7.” When she referred to the Philly star as a “legend,” Mandii even appeared to refute this.  She further explained that her disdain for Meek stems from Jay-Z referring to him as “the next Jay-Z,” a title she feels the Dream Chasers founder is not yet worthy of. 

Wednesday, Meek caught wind of the conversation and took to social media to respond.

“Championships album just one lol…. 24/7 double platinum…. Uptown vibes platinum or more …. Going bad 5 times platinum …. Dangerous 2 times platinum or more …. On me platinum …. youtu.be/9yHDIAkyBJg?fe this 2010 she won’t know these songs,” Meek tweeted alongside a clip from the podcast.

In another post he wrote, “How many hits on this mixtape you know… not billboard classified hits I got those too lol but this 2011 vibes I’m kinda rap invincible …. The Mandela effect is real huh,” while sharing a link to his Championships mixtape.

 

While Mandii may not be the biggest fan of Meek’s work, his impact on hip-hop cannot be ignored.  His debut project received immediate praise, spawning hits “Amen” featuring Drake and “Young & Gettin’ It” featuring Houston crooner Kirko Bangz.  Both singles were certified gold.  “Dreams & Nightmares” as a whole peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, earning him a RIAA gold plaque.  Meek’s 2015 follow-up album, “​​Dreams Worth More Than Money,” fared even better on the charts, peaking at number one on the Billboard 200 and going platinum. From there, Meek delivered “Wins & Losses,” “Championships,” and “Expensive Pain,” going on to sell millions worldwide.
