Polestar Announces New CEO as it prepares for Global Push

Polestar recently announced that Michael Lohscheller will assume the role of CEO in the company. The company’s CEO since inception Thomas Ingenlath has resigned. Polestar’s latest change in leadership will be effective by October 1, 2024.

“I am honored to join Polestar at such an exciting time in the Company’s history. Polestar has already established itself as one of the most desirable and innovative brands in the electric vehicle space, and I look forward to working with the talented team to build on this strong foundation and accelerate our development,” said Lohscheller.

Polestar’s incoming Chairman, Winfried Vahland, commented that Lohscheller’s expertise and experience will help the company develop “a coherent product strategy” and strengthen its global market presence. Polestar has big goals ahead for global expansion.

In June 2024, Polestar announced plans to launch new electric vehicles in seven new markets, including Europe, Asia, and South America. Europe is the main focus of most China-owned car brands. The Polestar brand comes from Volvo which is owned by China-based Geely.

Polestar recently started delivering the Polestar 4 in Europe, expanding it lineup in the region. It will be interesting to see how Polestar’s new CEO deals with Europe’s tariffs on EV imports from China. Other Chinese EV brands have started searching for sites in Europe to produce vehicles locally and avoid import tariffs.
