Courtesy of Visier, I was in Vancouver, Canada, over the past week.
And what an amazing place!
It feels like Melbourne but better organised.
My key personal highlight of the trip would be completing the Grouse Grind – a challenging 2.9 km hiking trail that is also popularly known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster”
I had never taken so many stairs in a single day.
And these are not your normal stairs in a building.
These stairs have stairs!
The climb was so tough that I cramped up every few minutes during dinner.
I felt like a pregnant woman with contraptions. Luckily for me, I still remember the drill.
(Long inhale, many short exhales.)
Just like in Melbourne, things are quite expensive. This is unsurprising, given that Vancouver’s minimum wage is not CAD$17 per hour.
15% tipping is expected at F&B; the same percentage is expected in sales tax when you buy things.
I stay at the JW Marriott, which is amazing. Not only is the hotel next to a big soccer stadium (Vancouver FC), but this is the first time housekeeping has left me a specs cloth on my bedstand because I casually left my glasses there one day.
In hindsight, I should have left an empty wallet behind. They might top it up.
However, given that this was a work trip, I had little time for personal activities besides taking an afternoon to go to Tsawwassen Mills because I was given specific instructions to go to the Lululemon factory outlet.
If you are into Lululemon, you will go crazy. Sports bras at CAD19 and tights at CAD38 make your typical boutique purchase seem exorbitant.
I also learned there that I am definitely a middle-aged man, as the most fun I had shopping was at the household supplies store.
And I’m Singaporean, of course I will grab hotel stuffs to bring back home.
Such as these cute little bottles at the buffet line.
I can’t wait to be back next year!
